This is Moshe Feldenkrais
FOUNDER OF FELDENKRAIS
Moshe Feldenkrais was a pioneering scientist, engineer, and movement educator whose innovative approach to somatic learning has transformed how people understand and experience their bodies. Born in Ukraine and later moving to what became Occupied Palestine, Feldenkrais trained in mechanical engineering and physics, working closely with Nobel Prize-winning scientists like Marie Curie. He was also an accomplished martial artist, becoming one of the first Europeans to earn a black belt in judo.
HE DEVELOPED THIS METHOD FOR HIMSELF
After a severe knee injury, Feldenkrais developed his method as a way to heal himself and improve functional movement without surgery. His method combines principles of neuroscience, biomechanics, and mindfulness, using gentle, exploratory movements to improve coordination, posture, and self-awareness.
BODY AND MIND CONNECTION
Through his teaching and writing, Feldenkrais emphasized the connection between movement and thought, proposing that learning through awareness of movement can unlock human potential. His work continues to inspire practitioners and students worldwide, helping people reduce pain, improve mobility, and live with greater ease and vitality.
