ABOUT FELDENKRAIS AND SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

Feldenkrais is a somatic movement exploration technique that helps people feel how they move.  There are two applications; Awareness Through Movement (group classes) and Functional Integration (individual sessions).
Somatic Experiencing is a trauma processing technique based on tuning into the felt sense of the present moment, using techniques like grounding, orienting and resourcing.

This is Moshe Feldenkrais

FOUNDER OF FELDENKRAIS

Moshe Feldenkrais was a pioneering scientist, engineer, and movement educator whose innovative approach to somatic learning has transformed how people understand and experience their bodies. Born in Ukraine and later moving to what became Occupied Palestine, Feldenkrais trained in mechanical engineering and physics, working closely with Nobel Prize-winning scientists like Marie Curie. He was also an accomplished martial artist, becoming one of the first Europeans to earn a black belt in judo.

HE DEVELOPED THIS METHOD FOR HIMSELF

After a severe knee injury, Feldenkrais developed his method as a way to heal himself and improve functional movement without surgery. His method combines principles of neuroscience, biomechanics, and mindfulness, using gentle, exploratory movements to improve coordination, posture, and self-awareness.

BODY AND MIND CONNECTION

Through his teaching and writing, Feldenkrais emphasized the connection between movement and thought, proposing that learning through awareness of movement can unlock human potential. His work continues to inspire practitioners and students worldwide, helping people reduce pain, improve mobility, and live with greater ease and vitality.

APPLICATIONS OF FELDENKRAIS

FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION

After a severe knee injury, Feldenkrais developed his method as a way to heal himself and improve functional movement without surgery. His method combines principles of neuroscience, biomechanics, and mindfulness, using gentle, exploratory movements to improve coordination, posture, and self-awareness.

AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT (ATM)

Through his teaching and writing, Feldenkrais emphasized the connection between movement and thought, proposing that learning through awareness of movement can unlock human potential. His work continues to inspire practitioners and students worldwide, helping people reduce pain, improve mobility, and live with greater ease and vitality.

Andréa teaches the Nervous System Care class based on ATM classes Feldenkrais developed and applies principles of Somatic Experiencing too.

Both Private Sessions and Group classes also include Somatic Experiencing

This is PETER LEVINE

FOUNDER OF SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

Peter A. Levine is a renowned psychologist, biophysicist, and the creator of Somatic Experiencing®, a body-oriented approach to healing trauma. With a background in medical biophysics and psychology, Levine has spent decades researching the physiology of stress and trauma. His groundbreaking work focuses on the body's innate ability to process and release traumatic experiences through gentle awareness of physical sensations.
Levine has authored numerous books, including the acclaimed Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma, which has been translated into over 25 languages. His contributions have profoundly influenced the fields of trauma recovery and somatic therapies, helping individuals worldwide reconnect with their natural resilience and restore balance to their lives.

APPLICATIONS OF SOMATIC EXPERIENCING

Nervous System Regulation

SE focuses on the body's natural ability to release the energy and stress that accumulate during traumatic events. Unlike talk therapies that focus primarily on cognitive processing, SE works directly with physical sensations, helping individuals reconnect with the felt sense of their body. Through practices like orienting, grounding, and titration (gradual exposure to sensations), SE helps discharge stored stress and promotes the nervous system's return to balance. This process can lead to a greater sense of safety, reduced anxiety, and improved resilience in the face of life's challenges.

A Different Approach to Trauma Healing

A key principle of SE is the understanding that trauma is not just about what happened but how the body responded and became overwhelmed. SE works to complete the fight, flight, or freeze responses that may have been interrupted during the traumatic event. By gently exploring these incomplete survival responses, individuals can release stuck energy and resolve patterns of reactivity that may manifest as tension, pain, or emotional dysregulation. This body-first approach is particularly effective for addressing chronic stress, PTSD, and other trauma-related conditions. Through SE, individuals learn to rebuild their capacity for self-regulation, fostering a deeper connection to themselves and their environment.

This is ANDRÉA PALLOTTO

FOUNDER OF SOMATIK

Andréa’s path to healing began in a childhood marked by trauma and instability, leading to chronic pain, anxiety, and depression in adulthood. After struggling to find relief through traditional methods, Andréa discovered the Feldenkrais Method, which brought both physical relief and a deeper connection to the body.
Building on this, Andréa explored Somatic Experiencing, a trauma-informed approach that further supported emotional healing and nervous system regulation. Now, as a Feldenkrais practitioner and Somatic Experiencing practitioner-in-training, Andréa helps others overcome chronic pain, trauma, and stress through mindful movement and somatic awareness.

With care and compassion, Andréa guides clients toward greater well-being, offering tools for self-discovery and lasting healing.
